Free pokies at Spin2U: practise on real games before you spend

Free pokies at Spin2U in one minute

Spin2U free pokies are demo versions of the games in its lobby, so you can play free slots with practice credit and learn how each one works before any money is involved. Here are the short answers most people want first.

What exactly is a free pokie?

The real game in demo mode: the same reels, symbols and bonus features, with practice credit on the balance instead of your money.

Does it cost anything?

No. Demo play at Spin2U is free after you log in, and you don't need to deposit.

Can I win real money?

No. Demo credits have no cash value, so demo wins stay in the demo and cannot be withdrawn.

Is a demo the same as a bonus?

No. A demo is practice; a bonus is promotional credit for real games. They are explained separately at the end of this page.

Which games can I try?

Games from across a lobby of 46 studios. Microgaming titles are the exception, with no demo version.

How to start a demo session at Spin2U

Starting a demo takes a minute if you already have an account, and only a little longer if you don't.

1. Register with your mobile number and enter the sign-in code Spin2U sends by SMS or WhatsApp.
2. Log in in your browser or the Spin2U app.
3. Go to the pokies lobby and search for a studio or a game name.
4. Select demo play when the game offers a choice of modes.
5. Look at the balance: if it shows practice credit, you are in the demo and every spin is free.

If there is no demo option

Microgaming games have no demo version at Spin2U; they can only be played for real money. If you land on one by mistake, go back to the lobby and pick a game from another studio. Never start spinning until you are sure which balance the game is using.

Free Aristocrat pokies to try first at Spin2U

Aristocrat is the Australian studio whose machines are a fixture of pubs and clubs across the country, which is why so many people search for free Aristocrat pokies. Spin2U carries several of its online releases. Here are five to open in demo, with the figures we hold for each.

Buffalo

1,024 ways to win on five reels, 94.85% RTP, high volatility. Sunset wilds and a free games round of 8 to 20 spins, where wilds add 2x or 3x multipliers. Because it is high volatility, a demo is the cheapest way to see how long the quiet spells between big wins can last.

Where's the Gold

25 pay lines on five reels, medium volatility, RTP shown in the game's info screen. Three or more dynamite scatters trigger the free spins. It sits between the gentler and the wilder games here, which makes it a good benchmark to compare others against.

5 Dragons

243 ways on 5×3 reels, 95.17% RTP, volatility in game info. Its free games let you pick: more spins with lower multipliers, or fewer with higher ones. Try each option a few times in demo before you decide which you would choose with real money.

Dragon Emperor

243 ways on 5×3 reels, 95.19% RTP, volatility in game info, with a free spins feature. It plays a lot like 5 Dragons in layout, so try them back to back to see which you prefer.

Geisha

Five reels with fixed pay lines, RTP and volatility in game info. Three or more scatters award 15 free spins with wins tripled, and there is a gamble feature. Use the demo to decide your rule for the gamble before it matters.

If you only have time for two, make them Buffalo and 5 Dragons. One shows what high volatility feels like and the other makes you choose how its bonus plays out, and together they cover most of what a classic Aristocrat game can do. More of the studio's games are in the Spin2U Aristocrat guide.

More Spin2U demos, by studio

Beyond Aristocrat, these games give a spread of styles from four other studios. All are in the Spin2U lobby; open each in demo mode after you log in. The guide to online pokies by type explains each style in full.

Cleopatra and Wolf Run are traditional-style IGT games, so they suit players who like a classic feel. Take the Bank and Safari Sam show how Betsoft builds bonus rounds around a story. The two JILI games are listed as low–medium volatility, which makes them a gentle place to start if you have never played a pokie. See the Betsoft, IGT and JILI guides for more.

Which Spin2U free pokie suits you?

If you are not sure where to begin, match your mood to a game and open it in demo:

• You want the pub-pokie feel: Where's the Gold or Geisha from Aristocrat, both line-based games with a free spins round.
• You want a story and a bonus game: Take the Bank from Betsoft, where Heist Spins build towards a bomb wild.
• You want something gentle: Fortune Gems or Golden Empire from JILI, both listed as low–medium volatility.
• You want to learn Hold and Win: 3 Coins from Booongo, the simplest version of the respin format on a 3×3 grid.
• You want big swings: Buffalo, the high-volatility pick of the Aristocrat five.

Give each game enough spins to see its main feature, or to notice how long it is taking to arrive. A game you enjoy in demo is a far better choice than one picked for its RTP alone.

Use free pokies to feel the difference volatility makes

Volatility is the hardest thing to understand from a description and the easiest to feel in a demo. Try this side-by-side test at Spin2U:

1. Open Fortune Gems, listed as low–medium volatility, and play a set number of spins at one fixed stake.
2. Note the demo balance at the start and the end, and how many spins paid anything.
3. Do the same on Buffalo, listed as high volatility, at the same stake and for the same number of spins.
4. Compare the two. The low–medium game usually pays small amounts often; the high one goes quiet for longer and then pays more when it does.

Neither result predicts a real session, because every spin is random. What the test gives you is a feel for which pattern you would be comfortable with if your own money were on the reels. You may find you enjoy one style far more than the other, and that is worth knowing before you choose a game for real play.

One more thing the demo can't show: RTP. A figure like 97.00% describes the average over an enormous number of spins, so a session of a few hundred tells you nothing about it. Use the published RTP to compare games, and the demo to judge everything else.

Spin2U free pokies on mobile

Free pokies at Spin2U work the same on a phone as on a computer. You have three ways in:

• The browser: Spin2U runs in Safari, Chrome and other phone browsers on iPhone and Android, with nothing to install.
• Your home screen: on iPhone, open Spin2U in Safari, tap Share and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the menu and choose Add to Home screen.
• The Spin2U app for iPhone and Android, if you prefer an installed app.

Some games show more detail in landscape, so rotate the phone if the paytable looks cramped. Phones also make it easy to lose track of time, so decide how long a demo session will last before you start.

Moving from demo to real money at Spin2U

You can play free pokies for as long as you like; moving to real money is optional. If you choose to, these signs suggest you are ready:

• You know how the game pays and what triggers its feature.
• You have seen a demo balance fall fast and still feel comfortable with the game.
• You have picked a bet size that gives the game a good run on your deposit.
• You know which Spin2U offer you want with your first deposit, such as the 40% welcome match from AU$30.

Real-money play at Spin2U starts from an AU$10 deposit, and you don't need your own PayID to make one. The route from a demo game to a first PayID deposit is set out under PayID pokies at Spin2U. Withdrawals of AU$30 or more are approved and paid to PayID, Skrill, Neteller or Payz within 5 minutes. The Spin2U real money pokies guide shows how to plan a first paid session.

Free credit lives on the promotions page

A demo and free credit are not the same thing. The demo uses practice credit with no cash value, while free credit is a promotion that adds credit for real games. For those offers, see the Spin2U no deposit bonus section of the promotions page.

Free or paid, play within limits you set in advance. The responsible gambling page lists free support.
